Who We Are

About the volunteers who help run “Let’s Study Japanese”

Mickey Mello
Founder and President

Mickey was a professional actor 8 years, having credits in movies, TV, and national commercials. He attended California State University, Bakersfield and studied abroad at Waseda University in Tokyo where he used to go street dancing. Upon returning to the US, Mickey became president of two clubs and helped found another. He also got involved with Sister Cities around this time. Mickey graduated in 2012 at the top of his class, with highest honors, in his double majors of Marketing and Business Economics. After graduation he got a job as Marketing Director of Global CTI, a telecommunications firm headquartered in Bakersfield, and became a board member of Bakersfield Sister City and SoCal Sister Cities and is on the Youth Committee for Sister Cities International. He has recently created “Let’s Study Japanese” because he was having trouble pursuing his studies in Japanese in his area, and figured others were in the same situation.
